Treasury Operations has created a payment process that allows departments to accept PayPal in different types of processing environments (websites, vendor integrated, and email). The Treasury approved PayPal process is facilitated through Treasury Operations in what is described as a Parent/Child account. This configuration ensures the departments income and fees are properly distributed through an automated booking directly to the universities general ledger system.
PayPal transaction flow from the customer to your PayPal merchant account. Once they get to your PayPal merchant account (aka: child acct.) then the income is swept to the Indiana University PayPal merchant account (aka: parent acct.). From the IU PayPal merchant account the income is deposited to and IU bank account where the automated booking to the department’s general ledger then occurs.
